Last year on July 22,when Human Resource Development minister Kapil Sibal launched the prototype of a $35 low cost computing devices,the cheapest anywhere,critics said it would be impossible to develop.
Today,Sibal launched "Aakash",the worlds lowest price just for Rs 2,250 per unit,touch screen computing and internet access device which allow the people the same set of web information which rich access through more sophisticated devices.
Free tablets were distributed to 500 students invited from across India to the event. The government will be providing subsidies to students to bring the cost down to about $35.
